About Homi Bhabha National Institute

HBNI Laboratory

Our Mission and Vision

Established in 2005 under the aegis of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India, Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) aims to be a world-class centre for education and research in nuclear sciences and technologies. Named after the legendary scientist Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, the institute embodies his vision of harnessing atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

HBNI operates as an umbrella institution coordinating academic programs across various DAE units, including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), and others. We offer postgraduate and doctoral programs in disciplines such as nuclear engineering, materials science, chemical sciences, life sciences, and mathematics.

Our campus in Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, provides state-of-the-art facilities for research and learning. With a faculty comprising eminent scientists and researchers, HBNI fosters an environment of innovation and excellence. We have produced over 2000 graduates who contribute to India's scientific and technological advancements.
